True batting wicket, you just have to spend some time and carry on with the shots. I picked the gaps and when I hit it straight, it went for sixes. Thanks to my family and friends. Our top order was not contributing and we needed begins. I never changed my style of play, I played my shots throughout, I just wanted to score runs in the batting powerplay and knew I would get there if I stay on the wicket. When Sammy dropped that catch, I thought god was with me and I just wanted to stay till the 45th over. West Indies Slaughter Bangladesh In Their Own Den

Bangladesh's hope of making it to the quarter final suffered a big blow when they suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the West Indies. Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat on a pitch they were so familiar with. But a superior bowling display from the West Indians saw Bangladesh crash to their lowest ever World Cup score after they were bowled out for 58 in 18.5 overs.

Sulieman Benn, Kemar Roach and Darren Sammy brushed aside the Bangladeshi batting lineup in just 19 overs. Roach was the first one to cause the damage when he claimed the wicket of the dangerous Bangladeshi opener Tamim Iqbal for a golden duck in the first over. Iqbal edged a quick delivery from Roach to second slip where Darren Sammy accepted a simple catch.

Another top order batsman to depart without opening his account was Mushfiqur Rahim who departed in the sixth over after he lofted the first ball of Sammy's over straight to Ramnaresh Sarwan at short mid-wicket. This was just after opener Imrul Kayes (5) had nicked one from Sammy to Thomas in the 4th over and Bangladesh were now reeling at 25-3.

From there on, things turned real ugly as Bangladesh's sole hope Junaid Siddique (24) was caught LBW by Roach in the 9th over. Once Siddique got out, the Bangladeshi innings folded in a heap with the remaining batsmen making only 22 runs in about 10 overs. Bangladesh was hoping that the experience of Muhammad Ashraful would come handy in this crisis situation. But he managed to make only 11 before falling to Roach in the 18th over.

The other batmen failed to even reach double figures with Shafiul Islam and Rubel Hossain departing on ducks, courtesy of Benn who also dismissed the captain Shakib Al Hasan (8) and Naeem Islam (1) to finish with impressive figures of 4-18. But it was Roach's explosive bowling that won the day for West Indies and earned him the 'Man of the Match' award for his 3-19 in six overs. Sammy also claimed three wickets including that of Raqibul Hasan (4).

West Indies didn't have any trouble chasing down the paltry total of 59 . Bangladesh tried different bowling tactics to make something happen but West Indies openers Devon Smith and Chris Gayle went about their business calmly, dispatching loose deliveries to the boundaries. Bangladesh got a breakthrough in the sixth over when Devon Smith misjudged one from Naeem that spun through his defense and into his furniture. It was the only wicket Bangladesh would get as Gayle, who was joined by Darren Bravo at the crease, went on to finish the tigers in the 13th over. Gayle scored 37 from 36 balls which included six boundaries.

Bangladesh won a vital toss and chose to bat first, as their crucial Group B encounter with West Indies prepared to get underway at Mirpur. With a win and a loss apiece, and with Ireland's stunning victory over England increasing the pressure for quarter-final places, both sides know that whoever emerges on top in this contest will have taken a huge stride towards that coveted top-four finish.

On a typically flat Dhaka wicket, Shakib Al Hasan was happy to have the chance to take first use, given that both of Bangladesh's opening fixtures - against India and Ireland - have been won by the team with runs on the board. Shakib confirmed an unchanged side, with Mohammad Ashraful retaining his place ahead of the offspinning allrounder Mahmudullah, having played a key role in the Ireland victory with two early wickets.

West Indies have also resisted the temptation to tinker, with no changes from the XI who dispatched the Netherlands with such aplomb in Delhi on Monday. Kemar Roach wrapped up that match with a hat-trick to complete figures of 6 for 27, and could once again share the new ball with the lanky left-arm spinner Suliemann Benn.

Bangladesh enter the contest on a tide of popular acclaim, and Shakib's correct call was greeted with a huge roar by another large and enthusiastic crowd. The manner in which they overcame the Irish at the same venue last week has reinforced the belief that in their favoured home conditions, with a quartet of canny spinners to take advantage of their slow, low surfaces, they are quite capable of holding their own.

West Indies, however, have plenty matchwinners of their own, even though one of them - Dwayne Bravo - has left the squad after succumbing to a knee injury in their opening defeat against South Africa. Cricket World Cup: Kemar Roach Hat-Trick Destroys Dutch

World Cup Group B, New Delhi:

West Indies 330-8 beat Netherlands 115 by 215 runs

Kemar Roach finished off a fine team performance with a hat-trick as West Indies beat Netherlands by 215 runs.

The 22-year-old from Barbados took the first World Cup hat-trick by a West Indian in superb figures of 6-27.

Chris Gayle (80) and Kieron Pollard (60 from 27 balls) took the Windies to an imposing 330-8 on a pitch of irregular bounce, before Roach got stuck in.

The fast bowler produced some exhilarating pace as the associate nation capitulated for 115.

Roach's hat-trick, with the first three balls of the 32nd over (his ninth), saw Pieter Sielaar and Bernard Loots beaten for pace and trapped lbw, before last man Berend Westdijk had his middle stump flattened in emphatic style.

The West Indies' total was the highest at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, which had only recently returned to international service following a 12-month suspension over a dangerous playing surface.

Even when South Africa had beaten West Indies at the same ground last Thursday, however, there were signs that batting remained a tough proposition.

And although West Indies, surprisingly inserted by Dutch skipper Peter Borren, encountered few alarms, a few deliveries barely bounced as they skidded through the dry surface.

By contrast, the Dutch batsmen floundered in the face of early strikes from Roach and left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn (3-28).Gayle's innings was a sensible one. The former skipper dropped anchor in a 100-run stand for the first wicket with Devon Smith (53), while Pollard provided the theatrics late on, hammering five fours and four sixes in the third-fastest World Cup half-century. Ramnaresh Sarwan chipped in with a 42-ball 49.

Roach went on to collect only the sixth World Cup hat-trick and the first of the tournament, as well as the eighth-best figures recorded in the ICC's flagship event.

Essex pro Ryan ten Doeschate, who scored 119 in the closer encounter against England, could not produce another heroic effort for the Netherlands. He fell lbw to Benn for just seven.

Tom Cooper provided the only resistance with an unbeaten 55 off 72 balls, while Dutch spinner Sielaar (3-45) had some joy with the ball amid the mayhem caused by the West Indies bladesmen.

"The ability to keep my pace up and be accurate is the biggest positive for me," Roach said afterwards. "The surface was slow, so our plan was to bowl straight and fast."

He added that he had been inspired by injured all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, whose tournament ended with a knee injury sustained on Thursday.

"I take a lot of inspiration from him, to me he is the big brother. His words inspired me this morning. He tried to give me confidence and I'm glad to perform in front of him.

"He said 'go hard and enjoy', as he always does, 'and be confident of what you do'."

Borren admitted: "I don't think the wicket really worsened, if anything it stayed lower in the first innings, showing just how much we were outplayed today.

"The guys didn't turn up today after a decent performance against England."
