The rising star of Indian cricket team U-19 world cup winner Harmeet singh is given a warm welcome by Punjabi Global Foundation and he felicitated by President of Punjabi Global foundation Gurpreet Kaur Chaddha along with Sardar Singh Suri and Surinder Singh.

Gurpreet Kaur said, "We are very happy that our child makes his mark in Indian cricket team U-19. It's a proud feeling for us and we wish him a great future ahead.

Harmeet Singh who emerged one of the most economical bowler of the tour bowled tight over in the finals against Australian team and just gave 36 runs in his 10 over spell.

"I always dreamed of living as a star and now the same feeling is there in his heart. Family support and good coordination among team members was the reason behind victory ", said Harmeet.

He has also drew attention of many great cricketers. The Australian legend cricketer Ian Chappell claims that with the Indian cricket team captain Unmukt Chand, Harmeet Singh also holds the potential to make it in senior cricket team.

Punjab Sports and Youth Festival 2012

The tehsil level competitions during the Punjab Sports and Youth Festival 2012 will consist of 18 sports events for general public and 12 for secondary schools. Sports Board Punjab (SBP) director general Usman Anwar said that an amount of Rs.1,015,600 would be disbursed among the winners. 

The Punjab Sports and Youth Festival will begin after Eid. He said that for the general public sports competitions would be held in arm wrestling, athletics, badminton, basketball, billiard and snooker, chess, cricket (tape ball), football, tug of war, volleyball, bodybuilding, hockey, weightlifting, cricket (hardball), kabaddi, mat wrestling, mud wrestling and table tennis. 

Elaborating about events for education sector, Usman said that elementary school students would compete in debate, essay writing, painting and Qirat, while students of secondary schools would contest events like cooking, cultural models, debate, dress show, essay writing and handicrafts.
